NEW: racket cover with air pressure
No Tuning
just Air
The new way to store table tennis rackets. Refreshes your rubbers and reduces material consumption.
Refresh table tennis rubbers – without any rubber tuning at all, but only with air
Good table tennis rubbers have their price.
It’s annoying when they lose power after only a short time.
What if you could simply refresh your rubbers regularly?
This is exactly why we developed the NO TUNING AIRBOX.
How does the NO TUNING AIRBOX work ?
The AIRBOX is a new type of cover in which you can store your table tennis bat. By the help of an air pump you put pressure on the box and thus also on your rubbers.
Why do table tennis rubbers lose their playing properties?
Quite simply, a little air is “squeezed out” of the pores of the sponge with every contact with the ball. At the beginning you don’t feel anything, but eventually there comes a point when the rubber noticeably wears off.
So, what to do?
Very simple: the air must go back into the sponge!
And that is exactly what happens in the airbox. The storage under overpressure pumps the air back into the pores of the sponge.
The result: the rubber is restored to its original condition (mechanical wear excluded, of course). and even after weeks it still plays as if you had just taken it out of the box.
So, play your rubbers much longer than before and save yourself a lot of material costs
“ALL YOU NEED IS AIR“
FAQ – frequently asked questions
Each rubber behaves a little differently here. With softer rubbers, approx. 30 minutes at max. 2.5bar is enough to feel a significant difference. Here you have to test for yourself what works best for you and your material.
Very hard Chinese sponges, on the other hand, take up to 24 hours. We recommend storing the racket in the box for a longer period of time in the beginning, e.g. overnight. After that, a few minutes are enough to “pump up” the pores of the sponge again.
Yes, you can also refresh rubbers that have already been played. Many rubbers react so well that they can be played as if they were fresh out of the box. This means you can play your rubbers much longer than before and save a lot on material costs.
The effect is of course dependent on the age, wear and tear and type of rubber. Important: of course, even the AIRBOX can do nothing against purely mechanical wear of the rubbers.
No. You just pump up the box with air. We supply you with the matching pump.
The box may be filled with max. 2.5bar or 36psi can be pumped up. To feel an effect, about 1 bar or 14psi is usually quite enough.
Just put the racket in the box. Tighten the six screws crosswise using the tool supplied. Tighten the two outer screws (next to the valve and the barometer) last. Do not overdo it, tighten with feeling.
Then apply approx. 1 – 1.5 bar or 14-21 psi pressure to the box using the hand pump supplied. ATTENTION: max. 2.5bar or 36psi pressure should be applied to the box.
When removing the pump, make sure that you hold the valve of the box. Otherwise it makes a ‘whoosh’, all air is out and you have to inflate from the beginning.
VERY IMPORTANT: before opening the filled box, first release the air by turning the valve counterclockwise. Only then loosen the screws
The use of the AIRBOX includes a pre-treatment of the racket and the rubbers. If rubbers are not glued properly, they may form bubbles when the AIRBOX is used. Don’t worry, your rubbers are not damaged! This is just air being pressed between the wood and the rubber. Exactly in the places where the glue was not properly applied. You can sand your racket very lightly with a 100 grit sandpaper before gluing the rubbers on. This prevents the coatings from blistering afterwards. How exactly you have to proceed, we explain in our video tutorial.
There was already some speculation that the AIRBOX was not from us đ Yes, the box was developed and patented about 20 years ago. But we have registered this patent. At that time the AIRBOX was put aside for the time being. The effect was not as good as hoped for with the old rubbers. In the meantime, however, the structure of modern sponges has changed so much – they are now much more coarse-pored than before – that we were able to bring the AIRBOX back to life. With modern sponges, the AIRBOX makes a huge difference. And we are very happy that she gets another “second chance”.
Your rubber is refreshed so that it plays “like fresh out of the box”. However, its actual properties are not changed.
Yes, you can do that. However, it is important to note that most rubbers will curl as a result. This of course makes it more difficult to glue them later onto your blade.
Yes, pimples out WITH sponge react in the same way as all other rubbers to storage under air pressure. There is no effect with pimples WITHOUT sponge.
Yes, the AIRBOX is big enough to carry large blades like defensive rackets or the Cybershape.
