The ROOTS 9 Z-CARBON SPEED is the hardest and fastest table tennis blade we have ever built.
IT IS INTENDED FOR PLAYERS WHO NEED A VERY HIGH SPEED AND CAN HANDLE IT. IDEAL FOR VERY FAST TOPSPINS, EVEN FAR AWAY FROM THE TABLE, POWERFUL ATTACKS AND DANGEROUS COUNTER-ATTACKS, DEFINITELY NO BLADE FOR BEGINNERS.
Facts about Z-CARBON SPEED:
- extremely high speed
- extremely hard ball bounce
- very direct feedback
- difficult to control
- flat flight curve
- not quite as stiff as pure carbon blades
- definitely no blade for beginners
How does Z-Carbon affect table tennis blade?
Z-Carbon fibre is a high-performance synthetic fibre which is used in various areas such as motor sports. The special feature of the fibre is its extremely high stability in combination with its low weight.
In relation to the table tennis bat, this means that the blade can be given enormous stability or hardness without increasing the weight. The harder a table tennis blade is, the faster the ball bounces off the blade and accordingly takes a lot of speed with it.
The special 3D handle:
The combination of G4 and G3 results in a wonderfully rounded handle that adapts perfectly to the hand. Due to the flattened shape towards the end of the handle, the blade can easily be turned from forehand to backhand.
The 3D-handle runs out gently to the front right so that the index finger doesn’t have to lie on an unpleasant edge. At the lower end, the handle is flattened diagonally to the other side – the so-called ball grinding – so that the handle adapts perfectly to the hand and is easy to turn.
The ROOTS 9 has a normal handle length of 100mm – if you prefer a longer handle, you can choose the long version with 103mm in the configurator or put together your own handle combination.
The veneer structure
The use of HiTec fibres alone does not make for good table tennis blade. Just as important is the clever combination of suitable wood types and veneer thicknesses.
On the ROOTS 9, the Z-Carbon fabric lies directly under the relatively thick top layer of spruce on the outside.
External fibres reinforce the hard playing feel and provide even more speed.
So that the blade does not lose too much feeling despite its hardness, we also use a thick outer layer of relatively soft spruce.
If this combination is too fast and hard for you, you should have a look at the ROOTS 8 Z-CARBON: with this blade the synthetic fibres lie directly on the core veneer and are covered by the intermediate layer and the outer veneer. This ‘defuses’ this blade a little and gives it a softer playing feeling.
